Multimodal Literacy
Literacy is the way that we make meaning of the world around us through reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing, and visual representations. Multimodal literacy is important because we constantly are engaged with different modalities at the same time. Teaching students to be able to construct and create meaning from the different modalities will allow them to be literate in the ever-changing 21st century.
Here is an example below of a form of multimodal literacy called "Digital Storytelling". Students can use visual, speaking, and technology to create their own story.
